Description
This study estimates the effects and relative importance of the determinant indices on MBA school rankings, drawing evidence from the América Economía MBA Latino Ranking spanning 2020 to 2024. We employ a Bayesian ordered logistic panel model with random effects using ordered variables (deciles and quintiles) as the dependent variables to avoid the tautological problem of using the final score. The model includes 49 business schools. The results show that quintile-based specifications offer superior predictive performance and convergence compared to decile specifications. Specifically, the year-specific quintiles model is preferred, achieving an overall accuracy of 79.5%. We establish a clear hierarchy of influence among the components: Academic Strength is the primary driver, followed by International Diversity, Return on Investment, Networking Potential, and Knowledge Production. The study contributes by validating quintile-based analysis as a robust approach for interpreting ranking dynamics and providing actionable strategic guidance to business schools.
